COAL HEADWEAR RESETS FOR WINTER WITH A SHARP COLLECTION BUILT FOR EVERY HEAD
Coal refines its winter lineup with upgraded materials, sharper categories and headwear designed for spending a life outdoors
Seattle, Wash., Sept. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, Coal introduced its seasonal FW26 collection, with intentionality at the forefront of every offering in its lineup. For the 2026-27 season, the brand is taking a hard look at what that means. Coal is refining its categories, upgrading materials and putting more intention into every beanie, balaclava, hood and cap it makes. Each style of the new collection reflects Coal’s commitment to create headwear for the best, available for all.
The new season brings together premium knitwear, technical cold-weather protection, women’s and kids’ styles, and signature collections built alongside some of the most influential names in snow, including Travis Rice, Jamie Anderson, Kazu Kokubo and Torstein Horgmo.
“We didn’t need to reinvent Coal. We needed to get closer to what we’ve always been good at,” said Mike LeBlanc, Director of Brand and Commercial Strategy at Coal Headwear. “This season is about making fewer things better, being more thoughtful about why each piece exists and building a collection that works for more people. There’s a lot of history here, but there’s also a lot of room to move forward.”
The Selects lead the season, a premium capsule where Coal pushes texture, construction and material innovation further than ever before. Specialty knits, drop-needle techniques and lower-impact materials give the collection a more considered feel without losing the ease that makes a good piece of headwear something you reach for every day.
The Standards Collection holds Coals evergreen popular style ways, with proven shapes and updated materials built for everyday wear.
The Fleece collection rounds out the lifestyle-driven side of the collection, with versatile layering pieces built for the approach and the day after.
For the deepest days of winter, Travis Rice x Coal brings the brand’s technical side into focus. Developed closely with Rice, the collection is built around fit, comfort and function, with the goal of creating protection that works without announcing itself.
“Gear is only good if it disappears,” Rice said. “It’s got to work so well you forget it’s there. We set out to build a kit that becomes secondary to the act of moving through mountains. If you end the day energized for the next, we’ve done our job.”
The season also puts more emphasis on the next generation of Coal wearers. The Ridge Hood Kids ($54.95) turns high-pile fleece into an over-helmet hood with playful designs ranging from flowers and pandas to dinosaurs and bears.
Women’s styles round out the collection with a broader range of silhouettes, textures and colors designed to stand on their own rather than simply mirror the men’s line. Across the collection, the goal is straightforward: make headwear people want to wear, whether they’re headed up the mountain, walking to work or stepping outside on a cold morning.
